Education and Youth
LSA's center-based EDUCATION AND YOUTH SERVICES helps neighborhood children struggling with school to get one on one assistance to boost their school success with hands-on academic assistance.
Our program offers after-school tutoring, a reading academy, and a summer program to underperforming students in English and Math, as well as a Girls Mentoring program for East Harlem girls entering 7th, 8th or 9th grade. We also offer counseling and information about educational and recreational community programming.
For many students for whom English is a second language or perhaps have parents who have not attended school and cannot help them build a solid foundations in study habits, fundamental academic skills or or complete their homework, the Education and Youth Program helps young students keep doors open to their own futures and allows them to position themselves for future opportunities and success.
A critical part of achieving academic and life is success is the ability to think analytically and creatively. Partnerships with entities like Free Arts and Materials for the arts, allows us to foster creativity and expression in our developing students, helping them broaden their skills and abilities and give them creative outlet for those who have artistic potential or simply a need to express themselves in the faces of the many challenges they confront each and every day.
