New Strategic Plan
LSA’s strategic plan includes a new mission statement and realignment of programs.
This summer, our programs are undergoing a realignment that will allow us to offer a more seamless experience for families who come to us for support.
This realignment comes at the end of a six-month strategic review process, in partnership with the McKinsey Group and sponsored by the Robin Hood Foundation. During this process, we conducted market research to better understand the needs of this changing community, and we surveyed and interviewed over 250 people, including clients, staff, partners, and supporters.
As a result, we have made two major changes:
We have a new mission statement!
This new mission statement synthesizes our work and values:
LSA Family Health Service, founded by the Little Sisters of the Assumption, strengthens and empowers vulnerable families and children by meeting their basic needs for food, healthcare, education and a safe home, in the belief that affirming families in their own dignity improves the entire community.
Our programs have been realigned into two broad clusters.
In order to provide families with a more seamless continuum of services, we have restructured our program offering into two key clusters. This will allow our programs to collaborate more effectively on behalf of the families we serve.
The program clusters are:
COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Advocacy and Food Pantry programs help families meet their immediate need for food and address the longer-term issues that keep people in poverty.
Environmental Health Services improve health and well-being by helping families remove asthma triggers from their homes.
Nursing through our Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA), provides direct nursing care to patients at home. The program specializes in Maternity Outreach – prenatal and postpartum care and follow-up care to newborns.
FAMILY SUPPORT
Parenting and Child Development works with parents to keep very young children (up to age 3) developmentally on track through home visits and socialization groups, and provides academic enrichment and social/emotional supports to school age children in grades K-3.
Preventive Services is a support program that strengthens family functioning to avoid placement of children in foster care.
The Sharing Place Thrift Store provides LSA families with emergency clothing and small household items. It is a popular destination for community residents in need of good quality, bargain-priced clothing and items for the home.
We’re looking forward to the next chapter in our agency’s history, and hope you’ll continue to support us in empowering families and helping children reach their full potential.
